Do you already know the candle-care basics?
The way you treat your candle determines how beautifully it burns. When you learn the simple steps behind trimming, timing, and proper wick care, every burn becomes smoother—and your candle lasts longer, smells richer, and performs exactly the way it was designed.
The First Burn
Let the wax melt to the full edge of the vessel before extinguishing; usually 2–3 hours. This prevents tunneling and creates an even burn for every use.
Trimming Your Wick
A trimmed wick creates a cleaner flame, prevents soot, and helps your candle last longer.
Wicks should be trimmed to ⅛–¼ inch before every burn.
The Ideal Burn Time
Short burns can lead to tunnellig; Long burns can overheat the vessel or cause the wick to mushroom or drown. Burn your candle for 2–4 hours at a time.
Safety & Placement
Where to put your candle:
• Keep away from drafts (they cause uneven burning).
• Place on a heat-safe, level surface.
• Never burn near children, pets, or anything flammable.
Extinguishing the Candle
- Snuff the flame instead of blowing it out for a smoke-free finish.
- Blowing is okay—just avoid splashing wax
- Never use a lid to extinguish the flame. (Trapping heat and smoke inside the vessel can damage the jar, stain the wax, and create a safety risk.)
